I'll be honest, when someone hands you a Jell-O shot before you've even set up your second lens, you know it's going to be a good day. Annie and Brody's wedding at Ranch Austin in Austin, TX was exactly the kind of shoot that reminds me why I love doing this. The whole crew, family, friends, wedding party, basically everyone, was dialed in on making this day as fun and as real as it could possibly be. And they delivered. The energy on that ranch was something you can't manufacture, you just have to be lucky enough to show up and capture it.
The moments that made this one stick with me? Annie surprising her groomsmen with a six-pack of Smirnoff Ices during the first look and watching a grown group of guys (and girl) kneel and chug on command is genuinely one of the funniest and sweetest things I've witnessed at a wedding. Jack had his essential oils making the rounds for anyone who needed a little grounding energy, which honestly, same. And when the speeches hit, they really hit. There were some people missing from that celebration who mattered deeply, and you could feel it in the room. That kind of emotional honesty is what separates a good wedding from one you actually remember. I was there to work and somehow still teared up a little. No regrets.
The overcast skies gave me this gorgeous, soft, even light all day that every photographer secretly does a little happy dance about.
