My friend Ace, the amazing founder and owner of Reunion Barbershop, and one of my best friends since 3rd grade, tested positive for a gene that gives her a 90% chance of developing breast and ovarian cancer. Not the usual way I'd start a blog post, but this event we created to help pay for some of her medical bills and downtime was a huge success and really made a difference.
Ace, her shop, and I had previously hosted an event called Haircuts + Headshots for my friend Jesse when he was diagnosed with cancer. We let people come in for barber services and headshots, letting them decide how much to pay to raise funds. We brought it back when it was time for Ace's preventative surgeries, and it was just as successful! Check out some of my favorite photos from that day below.
