This Texas Renaissance Festival weekend had a full on nautical vibe thanks to a visiting mermaid queen, and it set the tone for a really fun couple of days. I bounced between stages, shops, and trails and kept running into incredible characters. One of my favorite moments was a quick one on one shoot with a woman who wanted photos of her handmade leather costume. It turned into a sweet couples session when her boyfriend joined in, and the two of them were a joy to photograph. I also met Omen the Seeress, who had one of the most elaborate costumes I have seen all season, and I grabbed some adorable shots of Opal the Fairy that still make me smile.
The weekend had no shortage of surprises. I photographed not one but two LGBT weddings, which always feels special and meaningful to document. I also spent some time wandering with King Henry VIII, King Louis XVI, and their guardsmen as they interacted with festival goers and visited shops. And of course I had to swing by Bash and Banter to capture some photos for their new Tavern Masters game. It was one of those weekends where every corner had something new to capture, and I loved every minute of it.
If you are planning a festival, themed event, or performance and want photos that feel alive and full of personality, I would love to work with you. Reach out and let us create something that brings your world to life.
