I'll be honest, when I showed up to Radio East for Y'all Out Boy's set, I had a feeling the night was going to be a lot. And it delivered. The place was packed, the energy was ridiculous in the best way, and somewhere during the first set, a mosh pit materialized out of thin air like it had been summoned. Nobody was complaining. Least of all me, because that kind of raw, electric chaos is basically my favorite thing to photograph.
Now, Radio East is a great venue, but I'll tell you what it does not do: flood the audience with light. If you've shot there, you know. Getting those crowd shots of everyone screaming along to every word is usually a concert photography staple, and I had to work a little harder than usual to make them happen. But honestly? That's part of the game, and I'm genuinely happy with how these turned out. Sometimes the constraints push you toward photos you wouldn't have made otherwise, and a few of these are some of my favorites from any show I've shot in Austin this year.
Y'all Out Boy, you were an absolute blast to document. If you're a band, venue, or promoter in the Austin area looking for a concert or live event photographer who can handle a packed room, moody lighting, and a surprise mosh pit without breaking a sweat, let's talk.
